now in this one I'm comparing Uzu-chan and Jaia, just so you can see how the character and build of a person can change how they express something.

first, Uzu-chan!
1. here, she is happy the eyes are wide and bright, and so is the mouth, showing a little tooth!
2.confused. the pupils are small, the eyes wide, to show some kind of suprise or confusion. the eyebrows are raised and the mouth in a simple, curved line.
3.curious. the eyes are wide and searching, because she's interested, and the mouth a simple "O" this is a somewhat comical expression.
4.scared. exaggerated and somewhat comical, but it gets the point across. the eyebrows are raised high, the pupils are tiny, the eyes wide, and the mouth is huge, showing all of the inside. also, we use the "expressive hair" trick to add more effect; notice how it seems to jump and stick out like the hair on a cat.
5.lust...y. the eyes are all pretty and whatnot, lots of eyelash, big, shiny, pupils, and the puffiest lips on the planet, ready to smooch!
6. pleased. very simple and useful. the eyes are curved upward, closed is an unrealistic way, but they show that she's happy. the mouth is not open and expressive like usual for Uzu-chan but just a nice smile.
7. playful. she winking to show a little mischievousness and sticking her tongue out. nuff said
8.hurt. it's obvioius how she feels here; her mouth is wide open to show she's wailing, and tears are flowing out like rivers from her shut-tight eyes.
9. seriously pissed off. Uzu-chan likes to exaggerate it as you can tell, so naturally when she's angry, she looks like she's really going to kill you. the eyes are wide and slanted upward, mouth pulled back in a nasty snarl, and the "expressive hair" trick can be used to make her look wild by messing it up a bit
10. hmph! "I'm not talking to you!" her face is turned away, her eyes closed, because she's not looking, and her mouth pulled back in a tight pout. the "expressive hair" trick can also be used in a new interesting way here. by making her hair look neater, it kind of makes her seem in a snobby mood
11.she's embarrased here. I didn't add blush, but it should be there; a lot of it. the mouth is wide open so it's looks like she's stuttering, her eyes squinting and a little sweat drop on the forehead
12. asleep or vulnerable, her eyes are closed in a peaceful manner, she looks so fragile and delicate!
Now lets look at how Jaia, with a more calm and peaceful manner, would express himself.
1.Here he is happy. calm eyes and a nice smile, he almost looks just pleased
2. confused, his eyes remain calm (as is almost always the case), but his eye brows are arched and the mouth is turned down into a frown
3.this is a confused, or suspicious expression. his head is leaned in slightly, eyebrows are arched, and the mouth is a tight line.
4.in this one, he is scared or surprised. Now, since it would not be exactly the type of expression Jaia uses often, this is one of the most unusual one. his eyes are wide and his eye brows are raised, but notice how his mouth is shut tight, compared to Uzu-chan's. At least he still reamains with some dignity after being scared by not crying out.
5.Now this is Jaia's lustful expression, and as you can see...Jaia? Jaia? where the hell are you going?!?! (jaia) I dont...DO lustful.
w-wait? ok...um....hey Uzuz-chan get out of the picture d***it!
6. *cough* this is Jaia's pleased expression. it's a lot like his happy expression, only he looks a lot calmer in this one
7.this is his mischievous expression. his eyes are slanted upward slightly to make him look playful, and he has a tricky grin, with his eye brows raised
8.this is his hurt expression. it's very different compared to Uzu-chan, as you see he tries to keep his pride by not crying, but you can still tell he's very sad. The pupils are wider, the eyebrows curved to make a "sad" expression, and the mouth is a tight frown.
9.here he is angry. rather than looking wild and hostile like Uzu-chan, the character of the expression comes from the piercing glare.
10.hmphh! he's ignoring you. his head is turned away, lips are in a tight line, and again, he's giving you the piercing glare.
11.he's obviously embarrassed. this is one of his unusual expressions so you can take things to the next level if you want. he's totally vulnerable here but he doesn't want you to know so his head is turned away. wide eyes, arched eyebrows and a little sweat drop. and of course, he's blushing redder than an old man left out in the sun for 10 hours.
12. finnally, he's asleep. albeit he seems peacful and resting, the impression given by his relaxed, closed eyes and a little blush, he still has the aura of alertness about him, given to him by raised eyebrows and perked up ears, which makes it seem that he may be having a nice dream now, but he'd just as soon jump awake and defend himself should there be a disturbance.
